Seneca Returns and Claims Policy
At Seneca, we take pride in the quality of our products. Please read this policy carefully to ensure proper inspection, handling, and installation of all goods.
1. General Claims & Inspection
• All goods must be inspected carefully upon receipt.
• Any claims for faulty or damaged products must be made within 5 days of delivery.
• We cannot accept claims once goods have been cut, altered, installed, or made up.
• All stock is indent; it is not possible to cancel fabric orders once placed.
2. Delivery to Third Parties
• Where goods are delivered to a third party (e.g., curtain makers, upholsterers, decorators) at the customer’s request, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the correct items are received.
• We strongly recommend supplying a sample for verification prior to installation.
• For reversible fabrics, the correct face must be clearly specified.
• No claims will be accepted for make-up, installation, or replacement costs where goods have not been properly checked.
3. Fabrics
Fabric orders cannot be cancelled once placed.
3.1 Pattern Repeats & Alignment
• Variations in pattern repeat may occur.
• Alignment must be checked prior to cutting or sewing to ensure a satisfactory finished result.
3.2 Natural Characteristics & Wear
• Fabrics may display natural variations due to weaving, dyeing, or printing; these are not faults.
• Fabrics will age over time and may develop characteristics such as:
• Pile movement, pressure marking, or shading in velvets and chenilles
• Creasing, slubs, or pilling in natural fibres
• Watermarking from liquids
3.3 Velvets & Pile Fabrics
• Store flat and unrolled; do not stack or store upright.
• Use an intermediate barrier fabric when upholstering to prevent pile drag.
• Regular vacuuming, cushion rotation, and brushing in the pile direction helps maintain appearance.
3.4 Fading & Environmental Movement
• Fabrics may fade over time under sunlight or UV exposure. Curtains should be lined; upholstery should avoid direct sunlight.
• Curtains may shrink or relax due to temperature and humidity changes (3–5% tolerance is normal).
3.5 Sewing, Cleaning & Shrinkage
• Appropriate sewing methods and finishing must be used.
• All woven fabrics may shrink during washing (typically 5–6%). Follow care instructions carefully.
3.6 Dye Lots & Design Alignment
• Dye batch variations may occur (3–5% tolerance).
• Some designs may not align perfectly across the width; this is normal and should be checked before cutting.
4. Wallcoverings
Wallcovering orders cannot be cancelled once placed.
4.1 Inspection Before Installation
• Verify the correct product, matching batch numbers, no shade variation, and no visible faults before installation.
• Examination prior to hanging is the buyer’s responsibility.
• No claims will be accepted for defects visible after installation.
• Any claims for faulty or damaged wallcoverings must be made within 5 days of delivery.
4.2 Installation Checks
• After hanging 2–3 drops, inspect for shading, pattern match, or faults.
• No claims will be accepted once more than three drops or more than one roll are installed.
• Liability is limited to the purchase price of affected goods.
4.3 Hanging Requirements
• Follow provided hanging instructions. Professional installation is recommended.
• Use Roma adhesive (available via Seneca) or PRO880 adhesive. Self-mix pastes are not recommended.
• Solvent-based pastes must not be used on holographic or foil wallcoverings.
• Always confirm pattern direction before hanging.
5. Bed Linen and Towels (Manchester)
• Once goods are opened from packaging, they cannot be resold and cannot be returned.
• For unopened goods, a 20% re-stocking fee applies to all returns.
• For further information, contact homeware@seneca.co.nz.
6. Customer Responsibility
• It is the customer’s or nominated third party’s responsibility to verify goods before cutting, installation, or use.
• Claims will not be accepted for goods that have been misused, incorrectly installed, or not maintained according to the care instructions provided.
• Colours, textures, and finishes may vary slightly from samples, swatches, or photographs. Such variations are normal characteristics and not grounds for a claim.
7. Limitation of Liability
• Seneca’s liability is limited to the replacement or repair of defective goods, or a refund of the purchase price of affected goods.
• Seneca shall not be liable for any consequential, incidental, or indirect losses, including costs of installation, labour, or associated materials.
8. Force Majeure and Supply Delays
Seneca is not responsible for delays caused by suppliers, customs, shipping, or other circumstances beyond our control.
9. Intellectual Property
All designs, patterns, and images supplied by Seneca are the intellectual property of Seneca and may not be reproduced without written permission.
