SPECIALIST CUT & UNCUT VELVETS
Truly artisan. Truly beautiful. The Outline Collection by Mark Alexander features an array of uncut and cut epingle velvets, unmatched in the world.
Made in collaboration with a unique Belgian mill using rare needle-fine wire looms, MA brings us modernist simplicity achieved with time, commitment and a wealth of knowledge.
Geometrics with an architectural flavour and stripes with a strié warp, are cut to a dense pile, with a contrasting counterpoint of tight loops, to make a restrained but very special covering for a modern sofa or chair. This cut velvet, a historic quality reminiscent of royal palaces and elegant mansions, given a Modernist new century feel.
This month's colour is METAL. Whilst not technically a colour, we're going to profile it anyway and groove on all the bronze, gold, silvery blue greys and chrome like colours we're seeing in collections, maybe as a thread detail, an embellishment or as the main feature. Sometimes it's just a shimmer effect that leaps out at us.

UNCOMPLICATED LUXURY FROM MARK ALEXANDER
Mark Alexander is for those who appreciate a casual, elegant and pared-down interior. A typical client insists on a thoughtful approach to everything they choose to surround themselves with; architecture and interior design, painting and sculpture.
Not opulent or fussy, nor led by transient fashion, but are true to the materials from which they are made.
These are fabrics that whisper luxury – they never shout.
Seven new collections were launched at Paris Deco Off in January of this year. These collections showcase a stunning array of weaving mastery, uncomplicated luxury, fine detail and exquisite craftsmanship.
With a belief that interiors with real character are often those which have evolved over time, these decorative print and weave collections have been created to achieve a uniquely relaxed, lived-in feel, combining a series of strong and original weaves and prints, in different yarns, weights and styles.
The studio designers, led by Design Director Mark Butcher, are well versed in the art and architecture of many cultures around the world, and take their inspiration for the prints and patterned weaves from many sources, but they never slavishly reproduce – every Mark Alexander design is original. One of the studio’s greatest strengths, born from a deep experience of interior design, is allowing the inherent quality of a textile to speak for itself: knowing the impression a design can make in different weights, textures and finishes.

Relaxed styling, easy care and a dream to sleep on as summer nights warm up.
The Vida Stonewashed Linen is the ultimate in linen luxury.
We searched the globe for two years to ensure we found the very best linen
on the market. Our linen is grown in Belgium (which is regarded as the best
quality in the world), then sent to Portugal (the home of luxury textiles) to be woven and finished.
Vida linen is dyed in one process, and stonewashed in another to give the depth of colour and full bodied handle. We use only the finest pre-shrunk yarns which have gone through an anti-pilling process.
This is one of those family heirloom products that gets better with age.

Fashion, Flowers and Fabric
Matthew Williamson and Osborne & Little were invited to design a showcase at this year’s Decorex.
The entrance installation brought the worlds of fashion, floristry, set design and interior design together in one creative and colourful dining experience.
The Matthew Williamson and Osborne & Little set was Inspired by the Duchess Garden at Belvoir Castle, a delightful hidden corner of the stately home. Matthew Williamson imagines some of his friends, adorned in his beautiful gowns, stepping out from a party into the Orangery. It is a summer evening with a clear night sky, and the stars are shining.

A Collection of Craftsmanship
Far from the deafening racket of industrial production, the Élitis L’Accessoire collection offers a true moment of colourful freshness thanks to its products, handcrafted in small independent textile workshops.
Craftsmen dye, print, embroider, sew and express Élitis’ very soul through this collection of coordinating cushions and quilts.
Colour themes have been at the very heart of the collection development. Thus the products coordinate in an apparent and natural way. Cushions and quilts mix and match together in unison.

Elitis Nomades reveals a story, taking us to a faraway place.
For this collection, the Elitis design team wanted to immerse themselves in Korean culture. Seoul offers a number of museums full of infinite wealth. It is impossible to quantify the number of remarkable objects, fabrics and prints presented. Elitis discovered Kakemonos that remain an essential element of refinement with their subtle delicateness and graphic presentation. An initial source of reflection for the collection. Over the course of their trip, a saleswoman dressed in a silk Hanbok sold them a small strip of handmade fabric used to make traditional clothing, a mix of linen and silk. These two sources of inspiration created the SARI design found in the collection.
